* From 01.07.1898 to 30.06.1899 a special War Tax stamp (impuesto de guerra) of 5 cts was prescribed for letters within Spain
and to the Spanish possesions in Africa; not valid for local letters, postcards and letters to foreign countries.

** From 01.01.1931 to 31.07.1931 an additional delivery fee (derecho de entrega) of 5 cts was claimed for
each inland letter and a special stamp was issued for this.

* From 1879 until 30.06.1895 postcards to non-European countries with the exception of the USA, Canada, Egypt, Sudan,
Algeria and Tunesia cost 0,15; letters were charged with 0,40 each 15 gr. (0,25 rate before 1895 for allied U.P.U. members).
Registration fee to non-U.P.U. member countries was 0,50 until 30.06.1895.

From 01.01.1922 domestic rates were applied for mail going to Portugal; to Gibraltar since 15.05.1922.

U.P.P. (Unión Postal Panamericana): From 01.01.1922 domestic rates were valid to Bolivia, Columbia, Cuba,
Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras Peru and the Dominican Republic. From 01.02.1922 domestic rates were valid to Argentina, Brazil,
Chile, Costa Rica, Philippines, Guatemala, Haiti, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Venezuela und the United States of America.

Domestic rates valid to all nations of America, including Canada, from 01.08.1931 within the U.P.A.E. (Unión Postal de las Américas y España).
